A surprising fact to many amateurs is that PGA Tour players hit almost every club in their bag to the exact same apex height—roughly 90 to 100 feet. A pitching wedge goes 100 feet high, and a 4-iron goes 100 feet high. The difference is the descent angle and spin rate. Amateurs typically hit their short irons high, and their long irons very low due to a lack of speed and excessive dynamic loft.
